How are the qualifying scores (cut scores) set? (Updated 6/2015) Currently each institution has set their own qualifying scores for the MoGEA based in part on the performance of the first group of students who completed this assessment. Each institution will continue to set and maintain their own qualifying scores for the 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16 academic years. Once students have 'met' the qualifying scores at the institution level, this requirement will be met even if their scores are lower than the established state scores which will be set in August 2016. Individuals who take the test after August 1, 2016 will need to meet the established state qualifying scores.

A new 'revised' MoGEA exam will be launched in August 2015. In this version, Science and Social Studies will be combined into one test. Therefore, if a student previously passed either science or social studies but not both, that student will need to take the new combined science/social studies section of the revised MoGEA exam. Students are allowed to combine previous passing scores in the other sub-tests with scores on the new revised MoGEA starting fall 2015. In addition, all teacher education programs will need to review their cut scores in Novemeber 2015 and may change the cut scores required at their institution for the 2015-16 academic year.
