OK, yes as I said I did a 10 hour but that was because I know there's a fair bit of shrapnel in the first 10 hours. It's a bit old school from the days of Motors not being built as close to a 'blueprint' as they are today. Small amounts of shavings can block oil flows and destroy a motor. You're dealer is possibly suggesting a 10 hour for the same reason, just to make sure it's run in ok.

I find scheduled services are too far apart. I think this is because people want to see a long time between services so that is what they schedule. But I have always done 10 hours on race Skis and 20-25 on social Skis. This seriously keeps a Ski in great condition.

I have seen 500 hours on Skis that run and perform like new due to great maintenance. Perhaps a compromise? Maybe take it in at the 16-20 hour mark.

The next one after that will be at 50 according to the schedule. Most importantly keep them on the water. Skis love being ridden and are really unhappy when they don't go out much not. Hi guys I am in the same situation I have a new ski (Yamaha fxsho) and the 10 hour service is due (well its overdue as I have 14hrs up). The dealer stated this when i picked it up and so does the manual. I am not going back to the dealer instead I am getting it serviced with an accredited agent in eagle farm. It is 290.00 for the service & I was advised its an oil & filter change and overall check up - as per logbook.

I have no choice its got to be done to maintain my warranty. We all know the deal - you play you pay cheers will.
